PUSH PLAY CD Release Party!

November 20th, 2008

Great News! Push Play is teaming up with rock CAN roll to “BEAT HUNGER” at their CD Release Party, Nov 28 at the Patchogue Theatre! Are you coming out to this event? If so…Please, bring a healthy and nutritious non-perishable food donation! Now more than ever our help is needed to restock the empty shelves of local food pantries! Sadly, there are more people in need of assistance. Worse than that, donations are down! These agencies that work so hard to provide food for people who need it are in dire straights! Now more than ever our help is needed!
Push Play's New CD "Deserted"

Let’s not let those who live with hunger and in poverty continue to feel “Deserted”!

Place your concert tickets in your cupboard at home, so you won’t forget to bring a donation to the show! Enjoy!

On behalf of those who will have food to eat due to your support of our efforts…I thank you…you rock!

Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving!

In peace…

Bob Weir and RatDog rock!

October 29th, 2008

It doesn’t get any better than this! Halloween will be a little less frightful for some of the men, women and children on Long Island who live with hunger and in poverty. Thanks to Mr. Bob Weir and Rat Dog for their support of our efforts to restock the shelves of local food pantries!

HELP FEED FOLKS ON LONG ISLAND
10/28/08
Hey, Bone Heads: rock CAN roll is an organization that gathers food for food banks and such on Long Island. They’re asking you - and we join them - to pick up a couple of cans (or any food that’s healthy and won’t spoil) and bring them along to the shows on October 30th and 31st. Hard times for food banks these days, and you know it’ll make you feel good. They’ll also be auctioning off Bob Weir-autographed tote bags - see their table in the lobby.

So come on out Thursday and Friday to The Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury and please…don’t forget to bring 1 healthy and nutritious non-perishable food item!

On behalf of those who will benefit from your support of our efforts, I thank you…you rock!
In peace.

Cheech and Chong and rock CAN roll!

October 27th, 2008

Cheech and Chong rock! They came up with the greatest idea to help rock CAN roll ‘beat hunger’!
They played The Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury on Oct 23 and 24.
In addition to supporting our efforts on their website CheechandChong.com
They autographed 9 rock CAN roll tote bags that were sold for $100 each. Each bag entitled a fan and a guest to go back stage after the show for the ‘Meet and Greet’! They raised $900 for rCr! Look at these happy fans!

HALLOWEEN rocks!

October 20th, 2008

The rCr organization is collaborating with some schools on Long Island, kicking off a new project this Halloween! The organization has distributed ‘eco’ tote bags with the rCr logo on it to participating schools. In addition to collecting candy this Halloween, students will ask neighhbours to donate 1 healthy and nutritious non-perishable food item! The food will be distributed to local emergency food pantries. 200 students from The Family & Consumer Science class at the East Islip Middle School will be participating, as will 75 students from the Peer Leadership Club at The Webber Middle School in Port Washington. All we ask is that the bags be used again for 2 more school based projects…For example, a school concert and in February around Valentines Day…Have a Heart…Feed a Soul! If you would like your school to participate, there is still time! By working together…We CAN BEAT Hunger!

Costco rocks! Fruit cups for all!

October 18th, 2008

I received a call from Costco this week. They had 451 units of Dole Fruit cups (1 unit is made up of 16 fruit cups) that they were discontinuing. Each unit generally sells for $7. They called to let me know they were reducing the price to $2.95 per unit, would we be interested in purchasing item?
That works out to..7216 fruit cups! That’s 7216+ smiling faces. I was at my local supermarket and saw the same fruit cups on sale for $2.50 for 4! Thanks to all who donate that $1 or $5 or $20 at concerts, online or by mail!

How wonderful is was to make arrangements to distribute this to local food panties whose shelves are empty! This is NOT a typical item they are able to give to the people they serve!!
I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when parents received these delicious snacks to give to their children!

 a job well done!

CROSBY AND NASH , rock CAN roll, a night to remember!

October 18th, 2008

Many thanks to the Management of Crosby and Nash and to
the “FANZ with CANS” who came out to the Crosby and Nash show 10.13!
For those who forgot their food donation, we thank you for your monetary support!
This is a perfect example of how by working together, each of us doing some thing SMALL (whether it be a few words on a bands website, The Capital One Bank Theatre collaborating with us, radio and media coverage, FANS who bring CANS or $), CAN do GREAT acts of kindness!

Alyssa, She's 16, She's Beautiful and She "rocks"!

This is Alyssa. She’s 16, She’s Beautiful and She “rocks”!

Alyssa just had her sweet 16 and asked all her guests to please bring 1 healthy and nutritious food donation to her celebration! She and her parents (who are SO GREAT!) arrived at the Crosby and Nash concert with 5 boxes of food, 125 items that were delivered to a local food pantry. CAN you dig it!

The night only got better from there! Graham Nash and David Crosby were better than ever! The band was OUTSTANDING! If you closed your eyes you thought you were in 1970somthing…it’s hard to believe that they still sound the same - PERHAPS BETTER!

David was healthy and strong, gracious, and funny! For me, it was special to be able to peek into the extraordinary friendship Graham and David share. How fortunate they are! Friendships like that are a rarity.

So we were so happy to be able to meet up with Graham and David and Will..to say thank you in person, for their continued support of our efforts. They are just marvelous!
Graham is just amazing! The songs he has been writing and singing is what inspired me to do what I do. All I can say is thank you for helping me find my way.

Here are some photos…I am still walking 6 inches off the ground in awe of the people who ‘get it’ and step up to help us BEAT HUNGER!

rCr volunteers: Alex, Glen, Paul, with Graham and me. Alex is keyboard player in the band The Test Dream (www.myspace.com/TheTestDream) Glen is with Elmont Glass (www.ELMONTGlass.com), Paul (local musician and great friend to rCr)!

With Willy! He’s just SO nice!!

With David! A mentor…I highly recommend his book…”STAND AND BE COUNTED” It reminds us that we CAN all make a difference!

Again thanks to all who continue to help us in our quest to ‘BEAT HUNGER’…you rock!
In peace…
